
Toxic pesticides, banned or tightly controlled in many other parts of the world, are still widely used across Africa, often with little or no oversight.
In Kenya and South Africa alone, nearly half of all pesticides in use are classified as Highly Hazardous.
These toxic pesticides have horrific effects on human health and the environment. Respiratory illness. Cancer. Harm to pregnant women and unborn babies.
Declining pollinators. Polluted rivers and lakes. Contaminated and degraded soils. A silent but accelerating environmental crisis across Africa.
And most unfortunately, traces of these poisons are turning up in the food we eat every day.
We are quite literally being poisoned in the name of profit.
