LEGAL POISON! BAN TOXIC PESTICIDES ACROSS AFRICA. NOW.

pests

Toxic pesticides, banned or tightly controlled in many other parts of the world, are still widely used across Africa, often with little or no oversight.

In Kenya and South Africa alone, nearly half of all pesticides in use are classified as Highly Hazardous.

These toxic pesticides have horrific effects on human health and the environment. Respiratory illness. Cancer. Harm to pregnant women and unborn babies.

Declining pollinators. Polluted rivers and lakes. Contaminated and degraded soils. A silent but accelerating environmental crisis across Africa.
And most unfortunately, traces of these poisons are turning up in the food we eat every day.

We are quite literally being poisoned in the name of profit.

Add your voice now, demand that African leaders ban the production, trade, and use of toxic pesticides across the continent.

We call on the African Union and its member states to:

  • Adopt coordinated continental measures to ban the import, use, and production of Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) across Africa

  • End toxic double standards in pesticide trade - what is banned in Europe should not be sent to Africa

  • Hold agrochemical corporations accountable

  • Redirect public investments towards agroecology to support farmers to transition to safe, sustainable alternatives
