TAKE ACTION NOW!

With homes swept away, crops destroyed, and livelihoods ruined, communities have been left stranded and destitute. Now more than ever, we need bold and climate action from our African governments. That means:

  • Providing immediate aid to those affected. Instead of destroying peoples homes - consulting, resettling and fulfilling any promises made to support them
  • Phasing out fossil fuels in Kenya by 2030
  • Moving away from promoting false solutions such as carbon offsetting projects (planting trees is little more than a distraction from the real action we need) and championing real solutions to the climate crisis such as investing in clean renewable energy, fixing agricultural systems, and protecting our forests
  • Embracing and investing in agroecological farming techniques that promote biodiversity, soil health and water conservation as an adaptation and resilience measure to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events and ensure food security
  • Pushing for the ‘polluter pays’ system that will hold companies and countries who are profiting from destruction accountable, and channel those funds directly to support communities suffering the worst impacts of the floods
  • Holding fossil fuel companies to account and making them contribute their fair financial share in addressing the climate crisis

Stop Deep Sea Mining

In Africa, where biodiversity flourishes on land and in its surrounding seas, the deep sea is a treasure trove of biodiversity and home to untold wonders and possibilities. It is also one of our best allies against climate change. But a threat is coming: deep sea mining.
